Is a tourist place near Punalur town, Kollam district in Kerala. Thenmala is the first planned eco-tourism destination in India. The Thenmala dam was built across Kallada River. Thenmala is famous for being the shooting location in Malayalam and Tamil movies... Thenmala attracts foreign and domestic tourists with a host of attractions. Boating on the lake, a rope bridge, trekking, mountaineering, biking and a musical fountain. Thenmala is approachable both from Trivandrum and Punalur by road. The waterfall called Palaruvi is a prime attraction nearby. Also nearby is a deer rehabilitation center where visitors can see deer in a forest setting and have a peep into a traditional tree house used by forest dwellers to escape harm from wild animals. Other places near Thenmala are Kulathupuzha, Anchal, Punalur, Kamukumchery and Shenkottah in Tirunelveli district(Tamil Nadu). Themala is 72 km from Thiruvanathapuram and 16 km from Palaruvi Falls.

Method acting genius Daniel-Day Lewis surprised no one with his win for his brilliant, leading role in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, while Christoph Waltz walked away with the statuette for his scene-stealing role of Dr. King Shultz in Django Unchained. Which leaves us to the most talked about win of the evening; Jennifer Lawrence  wins best actress in a leading role for Silver Linings Playbook. genuinely shocked when Jennifer took home the statuette, as the award was expected to go to Jessica Chastain for her role in Zero Dark Thirty, a film which has been dipped in controversy all during the awards season for its sensitive topic (the hunt and assassination of Osama Bin Laden) and brutal scenes of torture. Could that have been the reason behind the shift in leading actress favorites? Who knows! The Academy works in mysterious ways…

On the whole the awards themselves found reasonable enough homes, even if the Argo fiasco left a strange aftertaste on the cine-palette. The Best Supporting category brought Anne Hathaway and the exceedingly likeable Christoph Waltz recognition for two performances that somewhat outshone the Best Actor & Actress winners. Between Jennifer Lawrence’s tumble upon mounting the stage (with over 2 million hits on YouTube, that topple will no doubt prove as valuable a piece of self-promotion as the Oscar itself), and Daniel Day Lewis’ highly witty speech, the Oscars managed to recaptured some of that unexpected live magic that is guaranteed with even the lamest of hosts at the helm.

Bollywood film English Vinglish to release in Germany across 90 screens

Gauri Shinde’s directorial debut English Vinglish, which was one of the biggest hits of 2012, has got a foreign release in Germany under Eros International PLC and Rapid Eye Movies. The popular Bollywood film, which saw iconic actress Sridevi making a comeback after a 15 year absence from the industry, has also been dubbed in German and will release across 90 screens within the country. 

Speaking about the release of English Vinglish in Germany, director Gauri Shinde said the following in an official statement. “I am extremely happy that EV (English Vinglish) is spreading across continents. My last visit to Berlin the response for the film was overwhelming during a festival and now I look forward eagerly to the countrywide response.” Pranab Kapadia, who is Eros International’s President – Marketing and Distribution, added to the comments surrounding its German release.

“English Vinglish is a global triumph and continues to entice audiences across the world since its release with its universal theme. With such fantastic response pouring in from every territory that we have released the film in, we are confident of opening up further new avenues for exhibition”. English Vinglish is based on the story of a middle-class Indian woman, who is determined to learn the English language during a visit to New York for her niece’s wedding. It received unanimous acclaim upon release and won a number of awards also. 

The film was released in Hong Kong in March and was shown in 7 screens, with 29 daily shows in Cantonese (with English subtitles). To all our German readers; make the time to watch this delightful Bollywood film!
